It is not new news that I am surprised at how much I love wedding photography. From the beginning of my photo career I always said I wanted to be an editorial fashion photographer. There was no doubt in my mind that I wanted my images to splash the covers of national magazines like Elle, GQ, Vogue and Glamour. Never in a million years would I have settled for wedding photography, nor did I really take a glance at The Knot. However, with the slingshot into this field thanks to my dear friends Angel & Erin who asked me to capture their wedding, it seems my trajectory has changed.
Today, as I was applying the finishing touches to a client’s wedding package after I had photographed it for marketing and brand purposes, I found myself getting emotional. This was my very first big wedding package. Not that I haven’t done weddings before, I obviously have, but this one was different. I had created a brand, an image that needed to be put out into the world. It was my baby and it was running off to kindergarten to put its own impressions into the world.
So as I reflect on not only the package that lie before me, but also my photography career trajectory I still see my images on the covers of these prestigious magazines, but just adding the wedding magazines to it as well. I love every part of my job, the marketing, the business, capturing the big day and interacting with the clients.
